2 More Posters for Tuesday!

I am very excited about the Inauguration. I will actually be in D.C. on the National Mall trying to sell some of my posters on sticks. If you see me and have seen this site, let me know! But per usual, I'm still putting my files online for free downloads. I've fallen off in keeping the site fully up to date because technically it was a site for the election, but y'aknow.... There's still room for new art till Tuesday. I haven't been hosting my .psd files of late either. If you're wanting those, please send me an email or leave a comment and I'll get them to you. If you've been following my work you'll recognize a lot of the elements. I basically deconstructed one of my wallpaper images and made it into 2 different posters. Yeah, not terribly original, but it's only a few days till the Inauguration and I wanted to have 3 posters to take with me. If anyone wants further details on the work that I did, drop me a line, I'm happy to share, but since the blog is moving into retirement till re-election I'm less inclined to do it on my own initiative, but I always love to share, so if you want more info...well I'm there if the masses crave my insight ;).

Election night was very emotional, but something tangible has changed, it's like a social revolution without the upheaval. We're all in unison and for the first time in a long while we're marching as one unified people to a new and better future.

Vote Obama Poster - That Fantastic Synergy That Every Artist Loves!

Well America, I'll tell you what. I am a very excited artist today. Today I have the very great pleasure of presenting what I consider my very best work to date. I have made a really really awesome Obama poster encouraging every single eligible American to vote.

Ta-da! There it is. Above is the very tiny version. This took me quite a while to get right, but I am super stoked about the stencil art style that I'm finally starting to get right, and the really great pop art elements. I was so excited about how it turned out I adapted the piece into a groovy wallpaper and set up a shop on Cafe Press specific to this work!

Making the choice to bring the text outside the border really did it for me. I like the way it pulls the eye to the entire poster.

For me this is a great great artistic moment where the sum of my skills culminated in a work that has really stepped up my skills. This just raised my own bar considerably higher. Oh, and HOLY CRAP do I have some download choices for you! See Below!

It is coming tomorrow

Tomorrow is going to be the biggest rollout that Wallpaper For Obama has had to date. I am very excited and proud of the work that I have done on this poster. It was a real breakthrough for me in finding my artistic style and voice, and it is a huge step forward in quality of work as well.

I am incredibly excited to release this poster tomorrow, and I've gotten some of my blogging friends to help me out with the promotion and rollout tomorrow morning.

In many ways I feel that this poster signifies a culmination in skills, passion, and practice that does not happen often for an artist. I can only expect bigger and better work from myself in the future.

I feel there is a work here that will be released tomorrow that will really respond well with people and will strike an artistic nerve in a way that any and all artists strive for.

I have created many posters sizes for this work, and even turned it into a wallpaper as well. I hope that everyone that follows the site will be as excited about this work as I am and enjoy it as much as I do. I'll tell you what, between you and me, quite a lot of school work was put on hold while I worked late into the night to get this right over the past week. It's crazy how an exciting project can consume you.

Anyway, the work will arrive tomorrow, and pass it on.

FInal Update till 2012

November 6th 2008:

Oh Heck. What an election night. I spent most of the evening weeping and complaining about all the dust in my eyes...My state of Indiana, where I live, work, and call home turned blue for the first time since 1964.

John McCain gave a great speech, and Obama's was even better. There is something new in the air, it's a new dawn. You can tell if you're keen enough to be observing. Our nation is changing around us. A great time to be alive.

Everyone. Thank you. All the visitors and folks that downloaded. You've made me very happy that my work has been so well received. I am constantly working to make my work better and stronger, and as a student, your support has given me great confidence.

November 5th saw my greatest traffic ever with over 5,000 hits in a single day (usually I average about 200 hpd), and since launching in late June my works have been downloaded by all of you over 13,000 times. I am also now #3 on google's search for "Obama Wallpaper".

I am keeping this site up permanently although my updates for now come to a close. I give full license and use of my work to everyone out there. Take what I started and make it better and spread it around.

I'll see you all in 2012 for the re-election campaign!

Why Obama? Why Wallpaper?

Two very good questions; I am an Obama supporter. I like his political policies, but I am a bigger fan of the personality. Actively watching the state of our country deteriorate over the past eight years has been a painful process for me. It has become harder for me and my wife to make ends meet, the intellectual discourse and leadership of this country has permanently lowered the bar for years to come, and there are still two wars being fought to a stalemate.

For me, Senator Obama is a promising new direction of intelligence even handed policies, and a measured approach to the numerous and difficult crises that stand looming in our very near future. A President Obama is exciting for me because it says to us and to the world that 2000-2008 was a mistake, not the norm.

I chose my project to be desktop wallpaper for a few practical reasons. I like making wallpaper that I would like on my own computer. I also need to continue to improve my skills with Photoshop and Illustrator, and this gives me a defined medium and image size and subject matter.

I also hope that other people will use and share these desktop pictures as a form of netroots advertising for the senator. The real strength of the campaign has been the public excitement and activism on the candidate’s behalf with little or no prodding from the campaign; this is a genuine groundswell of support for a really different kind of politician. Making art for people's computers is my contribution, and putting the wallpaper on your desktop is the best advertising real estate you control.

Everyone has every right to share, change, and distribute my work in any and all formats and mediums, however you are not allowed to profit from my work. I do it for free, and so should you.
