Short Sweet and Full of Hope

So if you haven't seen the LOVE stamp, you probably should:

It's pretty darn iconic and awesome. I always liked the way the letters were stacked and the color background. I remember when it came out as a kid and how popular it was. When I went to make the following wallpaper, I had gotten this stamp into my head and it kept nagging me that something clean and simple could be made the same way with the Obama logo and one of his slogans. Hence we get:

(Get the full sized version here)

It's a simple picture, but it took some tinkering to get the line weight and proportions right, especially since I am using a logo from barackobama.com in the mix with normal lettering.

General step by step:
1. Gradient background using burn tool to help emphasize that sense of depth
2. Black square shape , then a smaller blue square on top of it to create the border and lettering space.
3. Bring in the letters on 3 separate layers to align size, weight and spacing.
4. Brought in the logo on it's own layer, matched its size and then matched the border color to look like the lettering.
5. Presto bang-o I made a wallpaper.

I admit this wasn't the most creative intensive wallpaper I've done, but I also wouldn't call it filler. I did work to make sure it was a complete image, and I also made sure I didn't rush it like I did with a previous image. Sometimes I try to do quick and simple wallpapers alongside my longer and more complicated ones mostly so I am still producing new work and I don't get too hung upon any one piece. Continuing to turn things out is the best way for me to keep perspective on some of the longer running wallpaper images I've been working on.

Have a good one for now!
