The Classic Obama look

Classic Obama

This is the second Obama wallpaper I made, and the overall inspiration to take this from a few personal wallpapers to a project that I've put on the internet.

I had been surfing the web I wanted to find some real kickin Obama artwork, and of course the work of Shepard Fairey came up in google.

Aside from the accusations that Shepard Fairey plagiarizes all his work and is something of a jerk about it, I love these Obama images he made, and I totally used them as my foundation for my own picture.

I think the idea of other artists making high art of political posters is great, I think it's a shame that McCain doesn't have anyone working his image the same way. Making art out of politics is one of the best ways to make politics more accessible to more people.

So, yah. Thanks Fairey for showing me the way to my own political artwork. Below are a few alternates to the final "Classic Obama".

I won't be hosting the alternates on this site unless people ask for it. I can also email you the JPGs and PSDs if you request it.

The working process for this wallpaper was very pleasant. I desaturated the picture, played with the contrast, used the cutout filter, and used the brush to clean up artifacts and define lines better.

Below is the original photo, and here is where I got it.
